The St.Ives Concert Band was formed on the 1st November 2006 by the existing members of the St.Ives Town Band which served its community for well over 100 years and something we as a concert band will continue to appreciate and remember.

The band now incorporates woodwind instruments such as Flutes, Clarinets and Saxophones also lead and bass guitars alongside an extensive range of brass instruments, we still carry the tradition of using Cornets instead of Trumpets to maintain a rounder more mellow sound.

We currently have over 40 members within the band with an average age of just 16, each section is led by younger players with experienced adults providing support and encouragement to the younger members helping them develop experience, skill and confidence in their playing.

We have probably one of the most modern programs in the South West covering rock, pop and swing genres.

The band meets every Sunday at 6pm in our own purpose built band room next to the Coach car park in St.Ives and we always give a warm welcome to new players or visitors wishing to take part in one of our practices, the band itself is extremely friendly and without the politics you would normally find in such organistations in fact our aim is to enjoy playing music first and last.
